As many other have already mentioned in this thread, you 
can run PHP on any server w/o a web server installed.

Wow, that's just great!  You mean php can do more than just create 
web pages?

I use php a lot at work on boxes that have no web server installed.  It's a 
great language for processing information to/from databases/other 
applications I find (over other system languages).  I have many cron jobs 
(scheduled takes) that fire up php script to process all kinds of things that a human used to have to do manually.

Just because you don't like Jerry please try to pay attention.  Any n00b 
reading this thread would have already learned that PHP can run w/o a 
web server (starting with Jerry's post & the others that followed with 
more detail).
