I have read that Joomla is a "content management system". Yes but
what is is for? What is the advantage of it? Why do so many hosts
provide it but not Java?

1. because Java is not a CMS
2. because Joomla is 'free'
3. because Joomla is used so much ;)
4. Java is 'owned' by Oracle

and not because,
a. Joomla is easy to use
b. Joomla is maintainable
c. Joomla delivers safe websites

Both list should be longer than just these options.... ;)
