Bugs.Sun.Com seems to have disappeared. Oracle's bug database is for
paying customers only. Can you report and find out about Java bugs
free anymore?

Likewise.

Ironic, how they redirect `java.sun.com' to `oracle.com', but not
`bugs.sun.com'... ;)

I think Roedy might be looking for a specific bug id and it's not there.
I have experienced the same (7001755).

When they get culled/made-unavailable I don't know.

I doubt it.

"Bugs.Sun.Com seems to have disappeared"

"Can you report and find out about Java bugs free anymore"

Does sound lik eit.

Logical, but not so. I suspect Sun/Oracle have a complicated mapping
of logical to physical tables that gets screwed up every once in a
while.

When I report problems usually they get them fixed within a day or
two.

They are unusually bad about doing redirects when they houseclean.

Other sites are getting very good about it. I can keep links up to
date for most sites using automation.

Well in this case:
* it worked for other just a few hours after your report
* nobody else have reported the problem

Here's another one I entered on Friday: -

http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=9005723

How do I follow it if I can't see it?

Here's the reply after I logged the bug: -

Dear Java Developer,

Thank you for reporting this issue.

We have determined that this report is a new bug and have entered the
bug into our bug tracking system under Bug Id: 9005723. You can look for
related issues on the Java Bug Database at http://bugs.sun.com.

We will try to process all newly posted bugs in a timely manner, but we
make no promises about the amount of time in which a bug will be fixed.
If you just reported a bug that could have a major impact on your
project, consider using one of the technical support offerings available
at Oracle Support.

Thanks again for your submission!

Regards,
Java Developer Support

That database has always been a joke. Troll-worthy nitpickings show up
fine but real bugs are immediately censored.

It is working for me again too. I was getting through to Oracle,
just a generic page that had no mention of bugs on it.

Hi,

isn't bugs.sun.com read-only? I wanted to post comments, but I can't
figure out how to do that.

Also, they wanted to convert bugs.sun.com to JIRA, but I can't really
find that JIRA instance and some pages claimed the transition would be
work in progress - and it seems like it will stay that well for a while.

  Sven
