Java 6 introduced:
   http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/net/IDN.html

But if you have a choice then avoid them.

Try and read this about FF policy regarding IDN to get an idea about the 
problems:
   https://wiki.mozilla.org/IDN_Display_Algorithm
