And also some other sources on MCV, since the OP indicated on another
thread that he didn't know what that was. I found some of the
references at the bottom of the Wikipedia article helpful.

Since expressing my opinion on the Java Desktop Application, I looked
around to see if anything has changed. It appears not. In fact, the
outlook appears to be even worse.

Otherwise known as JSR 296 and Simple Application Framework (SAF), it
was not included in Java 7. In fact the spec lead, Alexander Potochkin,
agreed it wasn't ready back in 2009. His last post on the JSR blog was
asking basically if he had any customers or interest--not a good sign.
(The previous spec lead fled to JavaFX in 2008--also not a good sign.)

You can read a history of the project, which has be very well compiled
by Alex Miller on his Java 7 page.

No work has been done on JSR 296 since 2009. The spec lead did post his
summary of other application frameworks that are available (hint hint).
Comments on that post indicate that the NetBeans Platform is THE go to
framework for serious Java desktop application developers. Since then,
Alexander's blog taken a renewed interest in the base Swing component
library (hint hint).

My summary remains: SAF horse is dead. Stop beatin' on it.
