You don't generally want to use "==" to test string equality, unless you
make sure that you first INTERN the strings in question.  That is the
only way you are guaranteed to get a canonical object for a given
string.

Constant strings are interned automatically, but any that you get from
user input or new string creation would not be unless you explicitly
call the intern() method.
