Also, attitude aside, Andrew's comment enfolds a nugget of useful advice.

Multi-posting is discouraged (by most Usenet folk, not just Andrew) because it 
corrupts the discourse. Multi-posting makes threads harder to follow and 
answers harder to get. It also annoys people who are trying to help, because 
they stumble across the same thread elsewhere and their own answer is no 
longer there. Why take the time to help when someone is asking everyone else 
anyway?

Consequently, multi-posting harms the querent. Answers are scattered, and 
knowledgeable people with motivation to help are discouraged from working with 
you.

Cross-posting eliminates all those harmful effects whilst still reaching the 
interest range you wish to engage.

Andrew's comments are merely mordant summary of the above.
