Hi folks. I'm trying to figure out which version of java I have
installed. The versioning is a bit unclear to me: on the one hand, I
read about "sdk"'s with versions like 1.5, 1.6, etc. On the other, I
see "Java 5" and "Java 6" out there.

The particular problem I'm facing is that I want to use
javax.swing.GroupLayout. I *think* it is a relatively new feature, but
I'm having a hard time tracking down what version(s) I need to get it
to work.

Can someone tell me which things I should check on my system (linux)
to find out what version(s) of java I have?

Thanks,
--Steve
