Hallo Guys!

we are most of the time talking about hand coding User Interface or
generation by simple designers (eg the one available in NetBeans pack).
But i think we are missing something in a bigger picture.

I am currently searching for models, languages of specification to take
me through the whole process of designing GUI.
1. What i mean is first of all how to describe interaction of user with
GUI? Are there any formal methods or are there any popular and useful?
Now i need to keep all in my head, or have it stated in natural
language and then drag-and-drop controls in visual designer.

>From academic and work experience i have noticed that GUI and
interactions are not modeled properly or to some extent. I do not think
UML is enough, User Cases with scenarios and activity diagrams. It does
not provide functionality and formalism required. And are far away from
actual Gui design.

2. What do you use to model Gui on conceptual level?
3. Are there any tools, generators you find useful? Eg to generate java
code, using Swing library.

To sum up. I would like to know your opinion on how to model
interaction, between User and system? What languages, methods of
specification are useful ?

Luckily XUL, XAML, LuxorXML bring on board ways of describing gui in a
tools and platform independent way, but still this is just description
not modeling i believe. We still stay at the level of building visual
layout rather then interaction model.

Thanks in advance.
