Note: I was confused about, this -- for an 'false' argument (add instead of
set, you don't need this).

Then you can also use
 
         htmlDoc.setParagraphAttributes(textEditor.getSelectionStart(), textEditor.getSelectionEnd() - textEditor.getSelectionStart(), newType, false);
