Hi Gavino,

Chuck Moore released an extremely minimal colorForth in 2001, and I host two simple distributions of this for Windows here :

http://www.inventio.co.uk/cf2010_4v1.exe

The catch - this needs a real floppy disk drive and a real floppy disk to work.

There is also :

http://www.inventio.co.uk/cf2010bochs.exe

which runs under bochs, so doesn't need a floppy disk drive, but it is very slow.

I am working on a new USB version of this as time allows, but at the moment time does not allow :-(

Enjoy!
Howerd

Hi Gavino,

> does it have tcp/ip networking?
No, but it has UDP/IP. TCP is very complicated, and does not really fit in to a minimalist system.

> what kind of apps have you run or created?
All of the colorForth apps that I have written or collected from the interweb are in the distro - they are listed when colorForth starts. Type the name (using the keypad pattern in the bottom right hand corner ) and press the space bar. There may be other apps out there now...

The challenge is to provide the functionality that everyone expects from TCP/IP, Web browsers, HTML rendering engines, Facebook etc, without the complexity.
I think the best place to start is networked meta-data such as http://www.inventio.co.uk/MetaKibble.f .
Then add version control, share colorForth source and a lot of apps such as email and web pages become simple. Maybe.

Do you have a Windows PC to try it on?

Best regards,
Howerd

Hi Gavino,

> well until forthos gets a gui I guess im screwed
Is this because :
1. You don't have a Windows PC to run colorForth on?
2. You don't think that colorForth has a GUI?
3. You can't see a way to run apps without TCP/IP?

You seem to have given up before you started...

Best regards,
Howerd
