Very short, you must not need backtracking to find a solution.
W.r.t. a manual solution, you don't need an eraser to get rid of
a square that you *had* to guess.

I'm not sure how official this is, now that everybody does sudoku's.
I don't remember where I got this from, and my memory seems to
fail lately ;-) ,
