Your SIZE proposal was not rejected, you just did not pursue it any
further after the feedback (which was pretty sympathetic, but also
indicated that the proposal was unlikely to reach standardization in
the foreseeable future).

That's not necessary, although it helps. E.g., X:xchar and X:synonym
were not in many Forth systems when the RfD was initially written.
