It turned out that WSL was getting better at running native Linux Gforth than Cygwin was running Gforth compiled from source, so it became a waste of time. At that time, I had a customer project which was supposed to be running on an embedded Linux later, and the customer did run it on WSL to try it, and was happy with it. Especially with features in upcoming Gforth 1.0 like Wayland-based MINOS2, which WSL2 supports out of the box in WSLg, and Cygwin would be a very time consuming port to get something similar up and running.
