Last post I see is <clcm-20140401-0005@plethora.net> from 2014-04-01.
I checked here the titles of threads around that period and I didn't
see a discussion on the subject.

Every message posted to that newsgroup had a footer added by the
moderation software, which identifies clcm@plethora.net as the c.l.c.m
moderation e-mail address. I'd recommend sending your inquiries there,
though it might no longer be valid.

Peter Seebrook was the moderator. The most recent message at
http://www.seebs.net/log/ was posted on 2017-01-17, which is consistent
with the frequency of his less recent blog messages, so I would guess
that he's probably still alive, but I can find no evidence of his usenet
presence that significantly post-dates the last message on c.l.c.m. He
might have silently withdrawn from both posting and moderation of usenet
without giving advance notice - or perhaps he gave notice somewhere that
I haven't found yet.

I did find a message announcing that he was turning moderation over to
Edward Nilges, but that was dated 2010-04-01.

Seebach, I believe.

That was certainly a joke, one that those not familiar with Edward
Nilges are likely not to get. (Let's not dredge that up again.)

Edward Nilges is now deceased. He died of cancer in Hong Kong, having
reconciled himself to the Church.

I was profoundly sad when I saw his obituary - he clearly had some issues, and they got
worse over time. I always wondered if they weren’t a result of his disease. Just hate to
think of someone spending their final years embroiled in that state of paranoia and anger.

I don't think he was quite mentally ill, but he was close to the edge,
convincing himself that other posters were being paid by governments
to ridicule and suppress his socialist ideas. He wanted a leadership
position that others wouldn't cede to him.

Argh! I thought I cut-and-pasted that text from a reliable source - I
guess I must have typed it from memory, which definitely does not
qualify as a reliable source.

Of course - I mentioned the date because it ended with 04-01, not
because it started with 2010.

I probably should have noticed that. *sigh*
