I got my makeup done by Jeanie Ciaccio at the Emerson Spa & Resort, where the wedding was. I loved the eyes, especially. She used a soft gray eyeliner, slightly winging it out at the outer corners. My lash extensions meant I didn't have to wear any mascara and could cry my heart out during the ceremony without fear of smudges. I brought my own Armani Luminous Silk foundation--it's amazing for anyone who normally fears foundation but wants to try some for her wedding day. Oh, and recognize my rented diamond earrings from Adorn Brides? I loved wearing them for a day! For those of you who have a wedding coming up--a friend's or your own--what hair and makeup ideas are in the works? Got any questions about wedding-day beauty you'd like me to get answered for you? I agree with Cece, if you're not going to ask the bridesmaids about hair and makeup yet the only way to avoid minimum is to go to the salon. I would honestly just ask your bridesmaids now what they think they want to do. Anyone you book will need to know the estimated amount of people being worked on. I asked my bridesmaids about hair and makeup a year in advanced so I could book someone and they all said yet. Just give them an estimated price. In Cleveland bridesmaids were about $80-100 for each service. Travel fees might be unavoidable depending on the area and artist(s) unless you go to their salon. Some places may not have a minimum, but a lot of the ones I looked at did charge less per service if the group was bigger. I'd suggest asking around for quotes, and if you find someone you're interested in booking with who would need to know who wants hair and/ or makeup done, that would be a good time to reach out to anyone who you'd be including on the morning of your wedding. Pure Anada Pressed Cheek Colour in Sweet Pea: This lovely mauve is my go-to everyday cheek color. I applied it a bit more heavy-handedly than I might if I was wearing eye makeup. Plus, I love a flushed cheek in the fall and winter. Pure Anada is a really awesome, cruelty-free, affordable brand, and they have a great sample program if you want to try out any of their products. It's fantastic that we have many non-toxic makeup options now, but there are still many ingredients in them (either synthetic, but non-toxic or natural ones) that can clog the pores and cause acne. To avoid clogging your pores with makeup, pick loose mineral powders with absolutely minimal ingredients that are not comedogenic or irritating to the skin. Regardless of whether they are natural, non-toxic, man-made, or a pure product of mother nature. All that said, if you have very sensitive and acne-prone skin (like me!), I would avoid anything that could make acne worse, especially if you currently have active acne. Also, having regular makeup-free days, whenever you can, will be better for your skin that the best makeup out there. When I first started to use mineral makeup, Bare Minerals was probably the only one around (their Original version of the mineral makeup powder). I quickly realized that the coverage was great and easily buildable (to my surprise), and I saw no signs of irritation. It also didn't feel like I was suffocating my skin as with other, mostly liquid foundations. To ensure that even natural, non-toxic loose mineral makeup doesn't break me out, here are some of the most common ingredients I always avoid (they can be present in both loose mineral powders and liquid formulations): I hope this post helped you to make better makeup choices for your skin! If you are interested in more makeup products that are safe to use on acne-prone skin, check out my faves here. Hi, Julie! I am also very glad you did!:) The chin is often the most stubborn one, I hope it gets better soon!Check out my recent blog post on how to heal a breakout fast, it can help! I recommend Alima Pure Concealer, check out here: -safe-mineral-makeup/. For red scars, vitamin C serum is great as it lightens the redness, for example Mad Hippie Vitamin C. Hope this helps!:) Hi Sara! Thanks for sharing all these ? I have been sufferring from a sudden adult acne outbreak since 2years ago and have yet to find the right makeup. I have seen a lot of reviews on Too Faced Born this way foundation, saying that it is the best for sensitive acne skin. Wondering if you have any comments for it? Thanks in advance! Hi Sara I was wondering what do you think about the makeup from the brand Clinic. As I was researching I noticed that Dermatologist tend to recommend this brand. Is this brand actually good for acne prone skin? And if not, while using it can I damage my skin? I am suffering from acne since ten years on and off. Now I am unable to use anything except sunscreen on my face. I want to apply makeup sometimes but everything seems to have some or other comedogenic substance. Even products you suggested contain mica, zinc oxide, tocopherol which are teported comedogenic for few people. What to do!! Yes, it is very difficult because different people will react to different things and virtually anything can irritate or clog the skin. I would give the mineral makeup a try as it is the safest, and you can probably order some samples to try first:) "COUNTER solves a number of issues many people experience when searching for new lip products.
