You get an error message: If you try to import more than 2000 contacts at a time, you'll see an error message. Use a program such as Excel to open the CSV file, separate your list of contacts into smaller .csv files, and then import each newly created CSV file.

After you export your contacts, use Excel to open the CSV file and check that there's data. When you close the file, Excel will prompt you a few times with "are you sure you want to save it in CSV format?" Always choose Yes. If you choose No, the file will get messed up and you'll need to start over with a new contacts.csv file.

You can use Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GWSMO) to synchronize your Outlook contacts with Google Workspace. You can sync your personal contacts and any global contacts set up for your organization. If you do, you need to remember a few items.

Before you export contacts from Outlook, it is helpful to understand the difference between the Outlook Address Book and Outlook Contacts. Both are part of Outlook. However, the Address Book is a compilation of the different address lists that you might store in Outlook, such as LDAP Internet directories, the global address list (GAL), or other third-party address books. Contacts is only one of the address lists included in an Address Book. Only contacts can be exported directly from Outlook to Google Gmail.

Switching between Microsoft Outlook and Google Gmail is a very common trend these days. Some people are migrating from a desktop-oriented Outlook app to a cloud-based Gmail while others are using different email clients for their personal and business communication. If you already have a bunch of contacts in one email app, you certainly wouldn't want to re-create them in the other app one by one. Luckily, both Outlook and Gmail make it possible to transfer all your contacts in one go. It's not a one-click operation, but we will comfortably guide you through all the steps.

Tip. If you want to control what information is saved to the CSV file, click the Map Custom Fields button, and do manual mapping. To make sure that Outlook has successfully exported all of your contacts, open the newly created CSV file in Excel to view the information.

As soon as the import is completed, the All done notification will appear at the bottom-right corner of the page. If you've inadvertently imported a wrong list of contacts, just click Undo.

Note. For importing to complete correctly, your Gmail account must have the same language as was set in Outlook when exporting contacts. Otherwise, the column headings won't match and you'll get an error. How to import Gmail contacts to OutlookTo transfer Google contacts to Outlook, first export your Gmail contacts to a CSV file, and then import that file into Microsoft Outlook.

Tip. To make sure that all the columns in your CSV file are correctly mapped to the Outlook contact fields, click Map Custom Fields.Outlook starts importing your Google contacts immediately. When the progress box is gone, the import is finished. To view the imported contacts, click the People icon on the Navigation bar.

That's how to import contacts from Outlook to Gmail and the other way round. That was pretty easy, wasn't it? I thank you for reading and hope to see you on our blog next week!

Finally, after several tries I copied the Outlook contacts to Google. Not a clean copy process , though. Google mixes up files that show company names only, randomly assigning first and last names from the company name seemingly just to fill in the name spaces. The Google list dot bubble shows only the first letter of what ever fell in the first name slot, but I want it to show the first letter of the last name, or the first letter of the company name. Then the index location uses that whatever name fell in the last name space that I left blank, which means that letter in the dot bubble is meaningless. I can't find how to change the dot bubble letter. Also, I had several google contacts with invented nicknames that made no sense, such as I.A.M.C.A.P instead of AMCAP.

Oh well, I paired the list down to 200 or so contacts that need editing. At least I didn't have to make new entries for each contact. I also liked that my Outlook notes for each contact were copied to Google as well. Outlook is okay but not very simple to work. Google certainly has room to improve, but I'll stick with it as the cross-platform capability is much more convenient and easier to use.

You forgot one step when importing contacts to gmail. You must have the same language choosen in gmail as Outlook used when creating the contacts file. I guess gmail checkes the column headings when importing, because I got an error before I changed the gmail language setting.

With these tools, you can improve your contact management. Google Contacts is where you can manage your contacts in one place, while Microsoft Outlook is a powerful email client and information manager. Together, they provide a unified experience.

To learn more about alternatives to importing and exporting contacts from Google Contacts and Gmail, continue reading. We'll discuss the specifics of how to push and sync Google Contacts with the platform of your choice.

Pro tip: By syncing Google Contacts with Outlook using a tool like Contacts+, you can create a unified address book across multiple platforms, including Google, Apple, and Microsoft contacts, providing a central and up-to-date source for all your contact information.

Pro Tip: Take advantage of the customization options offered by Contacts+ or iPaaS platforms to define specific conditions for contact synchronization, such as syncing only contacts with a specific label or category.

One of the advantages of using Gmail as your primary business email is that you can access your email both online through a Web browser or from the desktop through Outlook. This setup can present some problems though, as your address book will become fragmented across two different applications. To overcome this problem, a variety of third-party applications are designed to keep your Gmail contacts in sync with Outlook, ensuring that you have access to both your email and your address book no matter your access method.

Click the check box beside "Enable Scheduled Synchronization" and then click "Save Scheduler Settings." Be sure that the scheduler is set to sync Gmail contacts to Outlook. Contacts Sync will now automatically sync contact changes according to the schedule you set.

The point is, that it is important to have your contacts to hand wherever you are and whatever device or service you are using. The challenge lies in knowing how to do this effectively across multiple platforms and services. For example, you may have a contact you've been emailing through Outlook but need to call them from your Android device, yet lack their number on your mobile.

Once you've signed in with your account, you can manage your email, calendar and contacts from within the Outlook app. For the purposes of this guide, you can also sync your Outlook contacts from your Outlook account to your Android device using the app!

First of all, you'll need to give Outlook permission to access your Contacts - this prevents Outlook contacts not syncing with Android. Once permissions have been given, you can sync your contacts to make them available in the Contacts app on your Android.

So, I have quite a lot of emails in Outlook I'd like to "harvest" contacts (to/from fields) from and add to Google contacts. Note that I'm not talking about the Outlook address book, but Outlook emails scattered in many different folders.

I've just recently flashed my rom with Android GPE 5.1 on my HTC M7 and it's working great however there's a slight problem where for some reason my hotmail contacts are not syncing after I've set up my hotmail account in Gmail using exchange setup. On my old HTC M7 sense my hotmail accounts synced up and all appeared fine.

When I go to Accounts settings I can see my hotmail account is there under Gmail and I can see it shows Contacts, Calendars and Emails show as synced but only Calendars and Emails are indeed synced as I could see them in Gmail and my calendar app but I can't see any of my hotmail contacts.

Any new contacts that are added to Nutshell or to Constant Contact will automatically be synced between the two applications. You can also use this integration to automatically update contacts across the two tools.

If your contacts, calendars, and reminders are in iCloud, then iCloud automatically updates your information. If your information is in a third-party account, like Google or Yahoo, you can change your default account to iCloud. Changing your default account to iCloud won't move your existing information from a third-party service to iCloud.

If you store and edit your contacts in iCloud instead of another place, like On My Mac, Exchange, or Google, then iCloud automatically updates your contacts. If you use multiple accounts on your Mac like iCloud, Gmail, and Yahoo, make sure that iCloud is your default Contacts account:
