1. The three shortcuts start the program with one of three different profiles. At the time of installation, if you chose to customize the installation, you could have controlled what content and associated profile got installed and whether or not a shortcut for each profile was created on your desktop. Global has a limited set of content that provides basic tools, based on metric units, suitable for use in most places (hence the "Global" name) where local content is not provided. US Imperial and US Metric have content appropriate for use in the United States and other places with similar building practices, in imperial (feet and inches) and metric units, respectively. I believe these three are what you would get in the default installation settings. For the 2015 release, at the time of installation (or, afterwards, by using the Windows Uninstall/Change feature, and choosing the Add or Remove Content option), I have options for Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish and UK content, in addition to the Global, US Imperial and US Metric content. (I am in the United States; I do not know if the professional or student versions in other places, such as New Zealand, offer other options.) I believe that Autodesk, or its resellers, in some other countries or regions also offer local content tailored to the local practices. Since you are in New Zealand, I presume that you would want to use a metric-unit-based profile; take a look at what is available when running AutoCAD Architecture in the US Metric and Global profiles and decide which suits your needs better. Or, perhaps someone from New Zealand can reply and provide a better response, or direct you to a source for New Zealand content.

Thank you so much. I know very little about autocad. the main reason I wanted the workshop 2D drafting and annotation is that when I press clean or clear screen, the bottons for viewport layouts show up and I can print.


If you have an Architecture workspace, I assume you are using the student version of AutoCAD Architecture (ACA) and not vanilla AutoCAD. Assuming that the student version is the same as the commercial version, you would have been given the option on installation to have an ACA as AutoCAD shortcut created on your desktop. If you have that, start ACA from the ACA as AutoCAD shortcut, and you should be in a profile that uses the ACAD.cuix, rather than the ACA.cuix, and you should have the 2D Drafting & Annotation workspace.


I have an apple macintosh at home where I have also installed windows. On both of them the autocad I installed which is the same serial # and product key, meaning the exact same autocad, when I open it is on 2D drafting already. That is why I thought maybe I've pushed some wwrong bottons to change from 2D drafting to architecture.


Any way the important thing is that when I'm in aca I can chang from architecture to 2d drafting, but it doesn't come already as 2D drafting, I have to change from architecture every time I open a new file. Is this the way it should be?

All instructors of course work that use computing media may require students using machines and software not in School computer clusters to provide a copy of the purchase receipt(s) of the relevant application(s). The School requires this to avoid software copyright violations.






The Licensing group manages site licensed and individually-owned software for current faculty, staff, and enrolled students. This licensed software has been procured to assist Clemson University users with their daily computing tasks. We may keep titles on the list for 2 years or more after the license has expired because in many cases activating the license again only requires a maintenance fee versus the full product price. We want our users to know that this is an option if they see it on the list before purchasing.

Some, however, are designated for specific college or group use. In the cases where a license is designated as "network" (as opposed to "standalone"), that designation refers to whether or not the license is tied to an on-campus license server. The standalone version of the license will be the better install option for laptops that may be used from on- or off-campus; the network license will be appropriate for desktop or departmental machines.
