Combining the talent and popularity of several singers with the emotional barrage of Descendants of the Sun, these songs have gone all but uncontested on Korean music charts throughout March, and are expected to continue to soar on the highly competitive Korean music charts throughout the end of the series.

The popularity of the show drew 8000 tourists from Vietnam, who signed up for tour packages to visit major sightseeing areas and filming locations of Descendants.[126] Prior to the airing of the show, there was a debate on whether it's appropriate for Vietnamese to watch it given the alleged atrocities committed by Korean soldiers against civilians during the Vietnam War.[127][128]

Suspicions of plagiarism were raised for "Everytime," the 'Descendants of the Sun' OST sung by Chen and Punch. Music&NEW, the record label in charge of producing the song, spoke up against the plagiarism accusations.


Netizens had pointed out that "Everytime" sounds too similar to Eric Nam'sdebut song "Heaven's Door," andHan Jae Ho, the composer of that song, had toldOSENthat he would like to "speak with [the composer of 'Everytime']." There were also opinions that "Everytime" sounded too much like2BiC's "A Night Like This."


A rep from Music&NEW stated on April 6, "There were opinions that the chorus is too similar to 2BiC's 'A Night Like This,' so we inquired into the matter directly with the original composer Jo Young Soo. [We found that] earattack included his name as a co-composer, along with Locoberry and Jo Young Soo, after negotiating with Jo Young Soo and getting the permission to use a sample [from the song]."


As of 11 a.m., three songs from the soundtrack of the military melodrama landed high in multiple music charts. "This Love," a ballad sung by K-pop duo Davichi, topped MelON, Genie Music, Naver Music, Bugs Music, Monkey3 and Soribada.






In addition to the big-name artists, the songs apparently emerged triumphant on the back of the undaunted popularity of "Descendants of the Sun," starring actor Song Joong-ki and actress Song Hye-kyo.
