Here on Debian Stretch (testing), STATS_size_x and STATS_size_y are present.

Architecture: amd64
Package: gnuplot5 (5.0.2+dfsg1-2)

However, when using gnuplot4 (4.6.6-3) from Debian Jessie (stable), the
variables are missing.
