What "the" contour plot were you expecting? You haven't mentioned that at all, before, which has me wonder whether you at least bothered to gnuplot about that --- and how. Did you read any of "help contour" --- and follow what you saw there? It doesn't particularly look like it, since your data lacks the structure needed for contouring, which that would have informed you about.
