Posting at least some gnuplot code would probably shorten the response cycle...
What exactly are you plotting, with which color?

Are you (or your colleague) by chance mixing decimal and hexadecimal?
For example #630000 (red-brown) is rgb(99,0,0) (and NOT #990000 which is more red).
If not sure, try using #abcdef as color both at your end and your colleague end, it can't be decimal ;-)

There may be other issues like color profiles, transparency, hard-coded palette and so on.
