Thanks for a reply. It was on Kubuntu 14.04, and I didn't run any updates at all. "service postgresql start" didn't worked as well. I tryied to dig it, but the time was short, so I backed up a database, and re-installed OS, put it back, and now it works. I've no idea what the problem was, and can't invistigate it further, since that system is no more. Sorry for the buzz. Boris.
