FileMaker has still not managed to offer a choice of EOL characters. Even if you do export as "Windows" charset, the EOL will be Mac only. (Windows takes Carriage Return plus Line Feed. Mac takes Line Feed only, Unix takes Carriage Return only. Or was it the other way round?) This may drive some nonexpierenced users crazy when you mail them an export. .xls is an easier choice. FileMaker does import from CR, LF and CRLF files. But FMP does always assume that encoding is Mac when you do convert a text file to a database. Thus you may open/convert, then delete all records, then import with proper encoding. FMP lacks some basic import formats - such as "x","y",1,"z" (comma or semicolon separated, with quote marks) Does FMP on SL still import from .xls files? - Martin
