The Earley citation reference under the title "Generating productions
from BNF" by Knuth was for a preliminary report; the title appears to
have become "Generating a Recognizer for a BNF Grammar" in 1965. Only
the cover pages are available online; however, if CMU could be
persuaded to open Box 33 of the Allen Newell collection, you'll find
it there.
