I think SKype is still used quite widely. Zoom is a newcomer and it has
yet to prove itself.

Nobody I know still uses it. All the people on my Skype list moved on to
better options. Even I haven't logged in for close on a decade.

If they are on Facebook, then Facebook Messenger. If they own an iPhone,
then Facetime. If neither, I use messages or other text forms.

Messenger is OK if you sell your soul to Facebook, Facetime is OK if you
are an Apple fanboi, Skype works with almost anything.

I was told "you have to get Duo so we can talk" just recently.
Ironically it was during a phone conversation.

Yes same, very rarely do but it's the only one I do occasionally use.

I get the same but it is *Line*??? that they are talking about. Tried it
once, it tried to take over my phone, deleted it and have been happy
with my phone ever since.

I had it set up on a computer ages ago but all the people I had on my
rather long list have long since forsaken Skype and moved on to other
systems. I don't know anyone who still uses it.

It should.
Just put your "profile picture" ideally portrait photo
Disable video/turn it off. Sound is enough.
