Yes, but he clearly now has a fault and he used to get those
with his adsl service, so clearly there is a problem in the copper
between his house and the pillar that is still there now, so he
would see the same problem with ABB too. They may however
be able to kick NBNco better to fix that.

Easy to check just log into the modem and see what it it sees on the
link to the pillar. On my 25/5 service my modem sees 28100K/6400K to the
pillar.

That’s why I asked him what his modem says.

> On my 25/5 service my modem sees 28100K/6400K to the pillar.

Its actually to the dslam in the node.

And yours is limited by the 25/5 plan. His isnt, he's on a 100/40 plan.

I get 114/44

Why are you on a 25/5 plan ? You can have a
100/40 unlimited plan from MR for $70/month.

I can't afford to wait six months for them to get their act together.
25/5 meets my current needs, I can stream 1080P video without problem,
its not as if we have a house full of teenagers trying to stream
simultaneously. More often than not, it isn't my connection to the ISP
that is the limiting factor in download speed anyway.

Even sillier than you usually manage, and that’s saying something.

But you might as well have the lower cost per month.

I am glad I took no notice to cancel my republic to go to
aussiebroadband.com.au. which costs $150.00 for something less than I
get for $60.00 now, that it is working again.

$74 for your 43mbps on the 50mbps/500gb plan without all the hassles. if
you use more than 500gb a month you must be doing a lot of downloading.
and what's the bet MR will up their fees now that they have established
a customer base

He doesn’t have any hassles that ABB can do anything about.

They have already upped the price, by just $10

What I am using has nothing to do with it, I now get unlimited if I
ever need it Your mob $150.00 for less data than I
  get for $60.00 now,

And they have put up prices for new users but not existing users that
stuck with them and did not cancel at the drop of a hat like some others
that could have had the same deal

Bet they are right about that.

What do you get with speedtest.myrepublic.com.au ?

What are the synch rates in the modem status page ?

> What could the ombudsman do?

Nothing if the synch rates in the modem are better than 12/1,
and you arent getting more than 5 dropouts a day. NBNco
doesn’t have to do anything about your obvious fault in that case.

You had massive problems with your adsl service and you are
clearly still using the copper to the pillar that has the problem.

Aussie Broadband does sometimes kick NBNco co more effectively
than most, and has a month free trial for whirlpoolers, but they don’t
do unlimited and are much more expensive than MR and if you are
on contract with MR, there's a $199 exit fee and you have to return
the modem.

I have not been able to log in to router with
https://192.168.1.1/through sea monkey or IE

I have not been game to reset router as it is ages before it connects
with dodgy line but I suppose I will have to try
