question for Computer nerd Kev (and others).. my 'smart tv' is apparently not so smart as it can't find my internet via ethernet. so I was connecting it via wifi, but then streaming movies kept pausing, and it was difficult to get them to play in HD. here's a screenshot of the tv when it's trying to connect via ethernet http://austek.net/pics/tv_connect.jpg I recall that there was some discussion about the TPG modem having difficulty allocating IP addresses, and that there is some way to 'set' the IP address to overcome this problem. ( I don't know a lot about networking as it doesn't interest me) so the question is how do I get the tv to establish a reliable ethernet connection? I am on the TPG unlimited 25 mbps plan. many thanks IA -- "Multiculturanism equals white ethnocide" http://thereligionofpeace.com http://www.barenakedislam.com/ http://www.siotw.org

There is a place for a Ethernet connection This in turn plugs into a HDMI from box to TV HDMI I receive via Internet from Japan 50 channels (no English) works well The price is $160 a year but had to buy "Android TV Box" $80 extra with APP installed -- Petzl Arguing with a woman is like reading the Software License Agreement. Yes it is but - Many TV, set top box makers, Blu-ray makers etc use the term "automatic" to mean a pre-assigned address in the unit in question that exists soley so that an installer with skills can connect to the device and then fine tune its network settings to connect to the local modem/router.

That’s why the TV keeps pausing because it can't deliver what the TV needs to stream continuously. Which modem is it ?

I signed up and got a welcome email saying I would be informed of the progress. heard nothing for two weeks, then the modem came in the mail. waited another 2 weeks and still had heard nothing. so I rang the service line but hung up after being on hold for over half an hour. tried again a few days later, same thing. so I sent email asking for someone to ring me. got no reply until about two weeks later when an email came telling me to ring their service line to check the progress, so I decided that a company this incompetent can't be any good, so I never did any more about it. also Rod has said here that their speed can drop to as low as 5mbps, so that confirms it. -- "Multiculturanism equals white ethnocide" http://thereligionofpeace.com http://www.barenakedislam.com/ http://www.siotw.org
