yes. but it's good to have a backup I guess. especially if it's not
costing anything to keep it

Like hell it is. Those cost you money per month
and a lot more than I spend with MNF per month.

Money I wish to pay, also I want my phone listed as I often have
contacts out of the blue get in touch.
So I elect to pay it.
No I don't like Telstra/whiye pages giving these details to "Indians"

You are free to have it listed for nothing.

Mad to be using Telstra at all.

Bullshit it is, works fine, just as well as if ever did.

And is one of the best value around too,
particularly with the whirlpool offer.

Main thing it isnt great for is calls to mobiles.

I'm not saying that. just meant the company/service is crap now. it
takes forever to get to speak to someone, and then they don't know
anything. I rang about about getting endless calls from 1000 and 1001
numbers. they didn't have a clue, and while I was on hold waiting for
them to find some answer, I googled it and found it's something called
Sip Vicious, eg:
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-block-ghost-calls-coming-from-100100010000-your-yealink-nadeau
anyway, I have disconnected it. don't need voip now

Never found that either.

On what ? Given the limitations of where they can happen, must
be on your mobile.

So you should have done that instead of calling them.

I wanted them to fix it!

not really. I don't have the phone ringing all the time with phantom
calls, and I have a $20 credit with my current ISP which was mandatory
on signing up. I have virtually no need to use a landline anyway, as I
have unlimited calls on my mobile service. but if I do want to use MNF
voip I only have to plug in the box and a phone as I didn't cancel the
account, which costs me nothing if I don't use it

the phone is connected to a MyNetFone Mitron VOIP box, which is
connected to the modem connected to the NBN

To the modem or to the modem/router ?

Which type of NBN, FTTP, FTTN, FTTB ?

What have you done about the voip service that comes with the NBN service ?

Not something they can do for you alone.

And its less than clear that its actually happening
on THEIR voip service anyway given that I don’t
get any of those calls at all and I use a
MyNetFone Mitron VOIP box which is the ATA,
connected to a modem/router.

You can also pay a monthly fee and get included calls too.
