Australia needs better politicians than the corrupt mess we have now. Vote oligarchies Coalition, Labor, "Greens" *LAST*, Federal State and Council! Or you are voting for Islam and Sharia. -- Petzl The Brexit vote is a rejection of globalisation. Also a rejection of the 1% who are the beneficiaries of globalisation. The Brexit voters are the 99%.. and theTrumps supporters. They are Howards Battlers in seats like Lindsay - currently being wooed by both Labor and the LNP but increasingly looking for 3rd options. Scarily they are also the Murdoch/tabloid/shock jock audience. It might be worth looking at the causes of this widespread mass disaffection. It is a fact that we are seeing ever growing inequality of income, asset ownership, opportunity, employment, healthcare, education standards etc. This inequality is well advanced in the USA, Britain, Western Europe, Australia and elsewhere. The neo-con trickledown stuff isn't working. People everywhere are being squeezed across the world. Brexit is a first major push back. It won't be the last. We will see Nexit and Frexit in the Eurozone sooner than we might want. Brexit is the start of something big and there's no way of knowing where it will lead. We might all end up in a better place if we can tame unfettered capitalism.

Do you have some recent reference which says that they're actually going through with this? Yes, they said this a year ago, but it's unwise to take Microsoft at their word, let alone if it's a year old. > Thank goodness. I can soon remove my GWX control panel, that prevents > this virus from entering my system :-) Well, GPX Control Panel is invisible and doing its job, so that's the least of my worries.

In - sort of - answering my own question: It *seems* that there no longer is a time limit on the free upgrade. For example the (Microsoft) "Get Windows 10" page (<https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10>) does not mention any time limit on the free upgrade and not even for a clean installation. (The only requirement for the latter is that you have a qualifying product key for Windows 7 or Windows 8.1.) Just for the 'fun' of it, I ran the Media Creation Tool and downloaded the Windows 10 ISO. At the end of the download, the tool says: "If you're going to upgrade from Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 or if you're reinstalling Windows 10, you won't need to enter a product key." I.e. again no time limit. So I guess we'll see what *really* happens after July 29 (2016)! :-) [...]

A message appears in a different colour, at > the top of screen. No such message here (Windows 8.1). Probably the 'GWX Control Panel' is also shielding me from this message. Anyway, I'll take my chances and will not upgrade. Windows 10 does not seem to offer any advantage for me, so as long as 8.1 is supported, I'll be good.

The free upgrade offer to Windows 10 will end on July 29, 2016. >"] Thanks. At least that's a clear statement and from Microsoft. If you click on the message, it brings you to "Windows 10 free upgrade offer ends July 29" [1], which shows a count-down clock. Is that supposed to make us nervous?
