#49014 — PVR tuning

I retuned a PVR to get the new stations, and found that I had two of
every channel. I figured that was because most were already in there, so
I deleted the lot and retuned again, but still had two of everything. I
noticed that one lot were lower down the spectrum like about 8 or 9, and
the other lot was higher up around 37 and 38. what is going on? why is
there two of everything? and which group is it best to delete.. the
lower lot or the upper lot? ta,

**In Sydney (and probably other locations) there are VHF (lower numbers)
and UHF (higher numbers) transmissions. Look at the signal strength of
each and delete the one with the poorest signal strength. That will
depend on your location and type of antenna. For most of Sydney, that
means VHF is the way to go.

that sounds right to me. this PVR doesn't show signal strength, but I'll
go with the VHF channels, as I think I will probably get better
reception with those. I have a proper digital antenna plus distribution amp

**Lower North Shore and Eastern suburbs are the areas which use the UHF
transmitters. Everyone else should receive VHF quite nicely. Of course,
there are exceptions (aren't there always?).

Never get anything like that with any I have retuned.

Where abouts are you and which PVR are you talking about ?

> and which group is it best to delete.. the lower lot or the upper lot? ta,

Really depends on what antenna you are using if they are really duplicated.

Its unlikely they actually are tho.

Yeah, its not that uncommon to have some duplicates,
but its rare to have everything duplicated.

Yeah, that's what I meant, its very rare if not non existent to have have
EVERYTHING duplicated.

**Wrong. It is VERY, VERY common throughout Sydney to see all channels
duplicated. Last time I looked, Sydney was the most populous city in
Australia, thus making such an event quite common.

Still just ONE place where they are all duplicated, stupid.

And he doesn’t live there, so its very unlikely to be true for him.

And I never said impossible, I clearly said UNLIKELY,
because as far as I recall, he doesn’t actually live there.

**The 'ONE place' has a population of almost FIVE MILLION people. It is
a common issue in Sydney and, given the large population of Australia's
largest city, that makes it a common problem.

>

**I have no idea where the OP lives. Given the population of Sydney is
