They're back today with 3 trucks and a mini digger etc and have already
done a decent sized hole with a couple of 6" plastic pipes with a slow
bend coming up out of the ground, between the two sets of pits that
I previously described. Said that it is the NBN node. Presumably the
big above ground box will end up on a slab on top of the hole they
just dug today.

There is a pillar in that other street, not mine, that I had forgotten
about or hadn't noticed previously, rather further away from the
node than with the Pretzel's photo. Can't find the one I thought
that there was at the end of my street. Either it has been removed
or I am remembering it wrong.

When I asked him why one of the lids has a TPG logo on it,
he claimed that they maybe had run out of lids. Sounds a
bit implausible but I spose it might be correct.

He had some line that TPG/Tata will be taking over the NBN
from Telstra which is very garbled indeed. Maybe garbled
from the fact that NBN is taking over the telstra cabling.

He recons it could be months before we get to use it and
that is what the local paper article said, that 3 of the 4
should be done by Xmas with the last in the new year.

Still seems pretty implausible that we are only going
to have 4 for the whole town of 20K or so people.

Nice and close to me tho, the node is only about 250'
from where the junction box on the corner of my block is.
