you can only use Optus cable, or Telstra cable for that matter, if the 
cable is available at your location. but there's no point in signing up 
for cable now, and I don't think either Optus or Telstra allow you to 
anyway, if the NBN is available to you. even if you could get cable you 
will still have to change over by April next year.
