With the fault I am seeing, the wifi signal level varying wildly. You can see that using Fritz!WLAN or WifiAnalyser on the tablet. Cycling the power fixes the problem for a day or so. > I bought a WD Passport 2 tetrabyte drive and it becomes the > IP from which all traffic goes through kept giving my computer > a hernia (security programs) so just use it as a USB device Never had any problem with the IPs. She uses a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite 7" basically to listen to 2SM radio all the time and to use facebook etc. I did initially have the repeater and my router with the same SSID but it works a lot better to have the each with their own so that when the transmit level on the repeated drops off, the tablet doesn't connect to the router which it can see at a power level that is too low to be useful and then fails to always switch back to the repeater reliably when the repeater has been power cycled. Works fine with its own SSID. > Try the tinfoil approach and bring the amplifier into the cool? IMO this would be better for that. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-High-Gain-2-4GHz-20dBi-RP-SMA-WLAN-WiFi-Booster-Directional-Antenna-/320730647811?hash=item4aad094d03:g:MvUAAOSwv0tVauBW > The amplifier is what your computer is connected to. My router has removable antennas so that would be the best thing to connect the above antenna to. But it makes more sense to go further and get one of the ubiquity wifi access points instead. They will certainly handle the temperature range fine. Much more expensive, but still nothing to worry about price wise for a permanent fix. > ************** > http://freeantennas.com/ > Ez-12 Parabolic Reflector Template > http://freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html > The video on how to (you need cardboard, tinfoil, paper, glue (stick > type is easiest) > https://youtu.be/sUTT8wdN_VA http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-High-Gain-2-4GHz-20dBi-RP-SMA-WLAN-WiFi-Booster-Directional-Antenna-/320730647811?hash=item4aad094d03:g:MvUAAOSwv0tVauBW Is a lot less farting around and costs peanuts.
