Good question. It is just the rare weird situation, like shutting the lid
on my laptop injudiciously quickly after sending an email, and I am able to
do that before (apparently) the DNS lookup happens. On wakeup, postfix
immediately gets back on the job, whereas the wifi takes a couple of
seconds to connect, so the DNS lookup doesn't happen.

Thanks for the pointer. I'll take a look at that tomorrow. (I still think
postfix should just get on with the job of sending the mail in the queue,
but if I need to apply work-arounds, I guess that is what I will need to do.)
