That sounds like the in-place upgrade failed in some fashion --
"drivers" are part of the kernel, and should(tm) just continue working.
Timeshift is a system package, and should be included (or at the very
least "not removed") as part of the upgrade.

Since you've already run timeshift to go back, chances of the logs still
existing are pretty slim ... if you decide to try again, watch closely,
and maybe check the logs / save them off somewhere before and after
reboot into LM22.
