Uh, nobody questioned the hack. You're the one 'dreaming up' non 
existent scenarios.

But since you mention it (wintrolls and applefanbois), how can you trust 
Windows or Apple downloads/updates? Are they fully transparent? Have 
they ever been hacked? My guess is most likely (definitely). The Apple 
app store has absolutely been hacked/cracked. These things happen. There 
is no absolute security. Question is, how many companies have ever 
admitted it? How many other companies have only admitted because they 
got caught.

At least Clem owned up to it. That is not to say he (Mint) has done a 
stellar job with security. They definitely have not! And more and more 
questionable things are coming to light, particularly from Debian devs 
regarding Mint's packaging processes and practices. But picking on them 
for things that have not happened is not fair.
