I'm a fan of linux live persistence, of the 'proper' type.

There's persistence and there's persistence. I would say that I've
found the type of persistence that is 'native' to Puppy linux to be my
fave, because of its simplicity from the user interface perspective, but
while I like Puppy and its followup by BK, EasyOS a lot, neither are my
favorite daily driver distro.

The most satisfactory persistence I've found for LM is that created by
mkusb, which I've used for quite some time; even 'tho' DUS 'barks' about
LM not being Deb or Ub during the creation, it has performed quite
satisfactorily up until now.

Another fave of mine is Ventoy, because I enjoy messing around w/ all
kinds of live linux, and even the occasional Hiren's Wins from its XP
thru' W10 & W11 PEs. However, I've never 'expanded' my Ventoy
experience to my other sphere of persistence w/ the Ventoy plugin for
persistence.

I think maybe I stopped 'before' that because when I looked at its basis
in .json, I tho't 'What the hell is .json?'

Well, now that I've run into a mkusb + LM 22.1 (and LMDE 6) obstacle
that I haven't been able to resolve yet, I decided that I wanted to
'mate' a MX 23.5 and its complex persistence options w/ the Ventoy
persistence plugin, so I needed to familiarize myself w/ enough .json to
be able to do that.

Another 'improper' persistence I've encountered is that of Win Rufus USB
maker which offers to provide persistence (usually) to appropriate Deb
or Ub .iso/s. That alleged persistence is not really the kind of system
persistence I want. I'm looking for more than just a parking place for
some personal files to persist. I want to make changes to the system
and have those changes persist.

In any case, now that I've looked at .json some more, in its wp article
and at the Ventoy site's instructions for its use for that specific
plugin, I think it isn't all that intimidating.

So, I'm a newb to .json because mkusb + LM 22.1 & LMDE don't get along;
just to finish this w/ topicality :-)
