The OP is confused and confusing, and you want
(I think) to narrow down his confusion to get
what sense could be squeezed from it, and this
firming up is performed necessarily from the
outside. Admirable attempt, but the OP is a
confirmed eel-wriggler, perhaps because of
some defect in his mind caused by his Sch,
perhaps because of some intention to be
slippery. I have never seen him come down
firmly on any position. Perhaps he is smart
enough to fool people into thinking that he is
crazy. Perhaps he plays the Evil Genius (le
génie malin) of Descartes, or even the God of
Descartes, but to me he is no simple-minded
fool. He cannot be pushed around.

As to eko hensho "turning the light of
consciousness back on itself" (hui guang fan
zhao 迴光返照), the very act of turning
consciousness on itself is a framing of
mind, which undoes all framings of mind. As
such, it eases all opinions, views, concepts,
etc. out of the way, leaving itself
(consciousness) alone, in its utter purity,
and all along the way, it (the method, fa 法)
has no content, at least no content specific
to itself. Aristotle says that the eye must
have no colour in order to see all colours.
"Turning the light of consciousness back on
itself" is the putting in practice of such
an insight.

By the way, I meant in another thread that
somebody has lost all balance and perspective,
all "turning the light of consciousness back
on itself" (in plain language, self-reflection).
He is washed away by his immediate situation,
as taken by him. He has no detachment from his
immediate situation, as understood by him, so
that he can stand back and look at it
objectively. This is the exact opposite of
mindfulness.
