With extreme prejudice even (ban hammer material). ******* A group such as "alt.comp.anti-virus" would be a place for the discussion of anti-virus products. Regarding the specifics of the question, "comp.sys.mac.misc" is a good place for it too. As this question is specific to an Apple product line. If no one will enter into a discussion, it means the topic is "below their threshold for comment". If you were to discuss "Raining In Rochester" in this group, that too would be "below my threshold for comment". There might not be a group, for the people of Rochester, in which case you would go to "talk.misc" as a group and let loose your bowels. There is "some place for everything", and... this isn't the place. OK? One look at the Virustotal.com screen, when scanning a file, will tell you that 30% of AV products are not worth buying. The people in these groups know this, they don't buy stupid things. It is not even worth discussing. Even mainstream products, may not be worth buying either. But as a first pass filter, I can chop a good few of those right off a list. This is how a Mac user discovers products. The person running this site, has rules regarding what will be reviewed and what won't be reviewed. While it might appear that only large commercial corporations are supported, that isn't the criterion. Any software to be tested, has to have some "skills" for each test area, to be considered. It's like the Olympics. "Narrow" products will not make it here. The 30% products in the previous paragraph, are not reviewed here either. https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/mac-security-test-review-2025/ Paul
