I've been using a similar JS blocker with Pale Moon for a couple of 
years, mainly to stop those "no right click" scripts. AFAIR it's a JS 
go/stop on page reload. I don't think it works once the errant script 
has started running.

Is the FF addon you linked to able to stop a script once it's running? 
Like the OP, I've had occasional scripts which completely lock the 
browser. I've even had one which required a cold reboot - I couldn't 
even get a terminal up.
