Rufus can't do persistence like Universal can for some distros.  Rufus 
is strong in the format features and faster than Universal and others, 
but sometimes not by much, sometimes quite a bit.

There is considerable unpredictability in what is going to work and not 
work.  The user needs an armamentarium of Windows and Linux tools to be 
the most prepared. The most power of all can be achieved with linux 
tools and the guides of the Ubuntu contributor sudodus for doing 
persistence and multiboots on 'anything'.

Rufus also can't do multibooting like Yumi.  Some distros need to use 
the UNetBootin technique instead of the rufus technique for handling 
such as the syslinux, which Rufus is 'better' when it works.

The newer Rufus can also write the .iso another way with its 'detect iso 
hybrid' and offer to write it differently.
