The most popular UNIX on the planet, according to the opensource group, does
not even ship with X11.

Add to that both Mir and Wayland have X compatibility. I think it is a good
thing that the open source ecosystem is working to move past some of the
weaknesses of X11 *and*, hey, what happened to the idea that choice is good?
With Wayland both KDE and GNOME, the developers claim, will be ported to it
