https://greekreporter.com/2024/09/26/assos-excavations-archaeological-hellenistic-byzantine-site-turkey/ Assos: Excavations at the 7,000-Year-Old Archaeological Site . . . What's "Greek" and what's "Turkish"/Other becomes more and more vague as you go back in time. Hell, the infamous "Philistines" have been concluded to be Greek-derived. In short "Greek"-ish was initially spread rather far and wide. The TIME frame is interesting here ... WAY back to the (supposed) Dawn of Civ. Just a guess ... I think there was 'civ' a LONG LONG time before that. The ice-age & end of such probably obscures a lot of that. The 12,000+ year hicks in southern Turkey didn't learn how to build Gobekli Tepe and related areas in an instant - they surely built on pre-existing techniques & ideas. Some of these more recent explorations suggest there was a fair amount of 'civ', sometimes kinda advanced, LONG before we generally imagine. This is VERY interesting. Alas the end of the ice age meant large floods along human-friendly river valleys/deltas and likely BURIED a lot of stuff under 100 meters of water and mud. We're gonna have to DIG DIG DIG (or DREDGE DREDGE DREDGE more likely). Oh, "SUPER-civs" like on the Alien Channel ... no. THOSE would have left obvious chem/elemental signatures and we DON'T see those. More goats and camels and such, maybe with the odd temple or zig. The earliest KNOWN civ - Eridu - now Kuwait (but it would have been much greener then) claimed that a fish-themed "god" came from The East and explained a lot of useful stuff about how to do agriculture, urban/political planning and such. Don't really go for "gods" or "martians" personally ... so I have to wonder if this 'god' was from a very early Indus valley civ. THAT area is made-over by floods and changing river courses which will tend to obscure what happened when. While "The East" is now Iran, the old civ THERE was the 'Elamites' who were NOT all so sophisticated. This may support a 'god' from a much-further-east civ. As for 'revelations' by 'gods' ... humans are NOT so stupid, they COULD have figured-out a lot of stuff all by themselves. No 'space people' needed whatsoever. Sorry Alien-Guy-With-The- Bart-Simpson-Hairstyle ......... In any case, the ice-age/PRE-ice-age timeframe seems the MOST interesting. People were people even then, just as smart. What WERE they doing, what WERE they capable of ???
