WHY do you think the planet is warming? Hint: It's not magic. There is a reason for the temperature rise and you need to tell me what you think it is. > > >> Do you think it is a potential problem? > > No more so than all the cases of global warming the Earth has already > gone through. **You don't see a problem with a 7 Metre rise in sea levels (when the Greenland ice sheets melt)? You don't see a problem with dead coral reefs? The resultant loss of valuable fish stocks? Etc? > >> If so, why? >> If not, why not? > > Since it's almost certainly utterly beyond our control I don't see where > this is a problem we can do anything but deal with. **Well, since humans have caused the warming though excessive CO2 emissions, we can deal with it, by cutting CO2 emissions. > > Though frankly, I like global warming. > > It's by far preferable to the coming alternative. **You might think so, but you might be bothered when 100 million Bangladeshis start trying to find a new place to live. > > If you think a fraction of a degree increase is an issue, what happens > when the temperature drops 10-20C or more? **First off: It's not a fraction of a degree. It's more than 1 degree C. Second off: Rising temperatures. Not falling temperatures. If the temperatures start to fall, I'll get worried then. Beyond that, it is a mythical issue. > > North America covered with mile thick ice sheets? > > Tell me you wouldn't prefer a bit of global warming over that. **When I see our magnificent Great Barrier Reef being destroyed by warmer water temperatures and the subsequent loss of tens of thousands of jobs, I am far more concerned than a non-existent ice in in North America. -- Trevor Wilson www.rageaudio.com.au
