I recently housed 8 formerly homeless people; 6 used charities to pay "first last and deposit" ( more or less ). One is from Ethiopia, another is from Gambia. One shelter has 65 people sleeping in the same room; it costs 90$ per month and there's a long waiting list, invitation only. Rental prices for a room ( in a rooming house ) have been going DOWN a little, lately. Larger apartments ( where people get together, to split the cost ) are still going up in price, but not by much. Seattle has 65 cranes operating right now; Chicago, the next highest, has only 40 cranes. Seattle is trying to be the new San Francisco, sky high rent and all.
