Do you think it > will, well, get us anywhere, well, good? It already has. There are plenty of positive contributions of AI around. If you want more specifics, look at AlfaFold 2. "Demis Hassabis was awarded the Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking work in protein structure prediction. This research utilized artificial intelligence models, particularly AlphaFold2, to predict the complex structures of proteins, which are essential for understanding biological processes." The reason for your exasperation is that most of the journalistic coverage you read about is the negative stuff; fake videos & photos; made up scientific papers with fake references; Fake news; etc. The good stuff takes longer to develop. And it is not very sensational. The reason why most journalist like to criticize AI is because they feel threatened by it. AI is capable of doing what they do - only better, quicker and cheaper.
