The OpenStack wiki says that only "i6300esb" makes sense: "KVM has a choice of two watchdog devices, but in reality only the PCI i6300esb device makes sense, since the alternative is a legacy ISA bus device." (This hasn't changed since: Bug#1009350) Looking through the provided modules files for the kernels /usr/lib/modules/6.1.0-34-cloud-amd64/kernel/drivers/watchdog/ the available watchdog modules are: mei_wdt.ko, ni903x_wdt.ko, nic7018_wdt.ko, pretimeout_noop.ko, pretimeout_panic.ko softdog.ko, watchdog.ko, wdat_wdt.ko, wdt_pci.ko, xen_wdt.ko Please just set the I6300ESB to module in the config: | # CONFIG_I6300ESB_WDT is not set Best Regards, Christian Lamparter -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.10 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-34-cloud-amd64 (SMP w/64 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages linux-image-cloud-amd64 depends on: ii linux-image-6.1.0-34-cloud-amd64 6.1.135-1 linux-image-cloud-amd64 recommends no packages. linux-image-cloud-amd64 suggests no packages. -- no debconf information ------------=_1747158661-1610265-0 Content-Type: message/rfc822 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Received: (at 1104518-done) by bugs.debian.org; 13 May 2025 17:49:59 +0000 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.4.6-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (2021-04-09) on buxtehude.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, score=-110.7 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,DKIMWL_WL_HIGH, DKIM_SIGNED,DKIM_VALID,DKIM_VALID_AU,DKIM_VALID_EF,FROMDEVELOPER, HAS_BUG_NUMBER,RCVD_IN_DNSWL_MED,RCVD_IN_VALIDITY_CERTIFIED_BLOCKED, RCVD_IN_VALIDITY_RPBL_BLOCKED,SPF_HELO_NONE,SPF_NONE, USER_IN_DKIM_WELCOMELIST,USER_IN_DKIM_WHITELIST autolearn=ham autolearn_force=no version=3.4.6-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-Spam-Bayes: score:0.0000 Tokens: new, 17; hammy, 126; neutral, 32; spammy, 0. spammytokens: hammytokens:0.000-+--trixie, 0.000-+--libvirt, 0.000-+--Trixie, 0.000-+--31pm, 0.000-+--31PM Return-path: Received: from s3.thinkmo.de ([162.55.237.202]:34790 helo=mail.thinkmo.de) by buxtehude.debian.org with esmtps (TLS1.3:ECDHE_X25519__RSA_PSS_RSAE_SHA256__AES_256_GCM:256) (Exim 4.94.2) (envelope-from ) id 1uEtlP-006kjd-FN for 1104518-done@bugs.debian.org; Tue, 13 May 2025 17:49:59 +0000 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by mail.thinkmo.de (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4ZxkWl35wkzyYv; Tue, 13 May 2025 17:49:55 +0000 (UTC) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=debian.org; h= in-reply-to:content-disposition:content-type:content-type :mime-version:references:message-id:subject:subject:from:from :date:date:received:received; s=mail202007.waldi.user; t= 1747158595; bh=g2cegVdzXYCQRRawIi/ZRr8raq53ySefA2H93Kr7FuE=; b=H e2bpdtakvx81rnXGTiT7Ojf97wdHiLsWRyDqlrTvid29s0xSPMB8gcLc5E9rK8N1 y9pX4M/MhmQEp12F4Hhd6w23qFHTnrO8YgT9BD/dJa4tiD66Fhjc9l7+Eu/Quz8t jOyjaJyehCwzPDcAfKKgudjNDxe0E2W5xi6DZPhQaupj9Iwv3lfTOeWMX07Q9cMp njokD9/2wF3LDlfLb9FSbMWZaWMgmTYiYLVotP1Omo+TIDpudNDUKWeSiboeIgqi iPP9HL15C4v6qBxstDd6X7kyk4wYropH7Mr+6JIwVHrsdTCwa+/OUJop8soxPhKZ dLPJDlTAjB4rtwZPpANbA== X-Virus-Scanned: Debian amavis at Received: from mail.thinkmo.de ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (mail.thinkmo.de [127.0.0.1]) (amavis, port 10024) with ESMTP id ohODrcjWhKib; Tue, 13 May 2025 17:49:55 +0000 (UTC) Received: from shell.thinkmo.de (shell.thinkmo.de [IPv6:2a01:4f8:271:3f5c:0:22:0:1]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange ECDHE (prime256v1) server-signature ECDSA (secp384r1) server-digest SHA384) (No client certificate requested) by mail.thinkmo.de (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4ZxkWl22j0zyV5; Tue, 13 May 2025 17:49:55 +0000 (UTC) Date: Tue, 13 May 2025 19:48:55 +0200 From: Bastian Blank To: Christian Lamparter , 1104518-done@bugs.debian.org Subject: Re: Bug#1104518: linux-image-cloud-amd64: include Watchdog drivers for libvirt Message-ID: <20250513174855.osnxqwxswihrigca@shell.thinkmo.de> Mail-Followup-To: Bastian Blank , Christian Lamparter , 1104518-done@bugs.debian.org References: <174610659139.83568.6562520108446872238.reportbug@isd-jupyter.isd.uni-stuttgart.de> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <174610659139.83568.6562520108446872238.reportbug@isd-jupyter.isd.uni-stuttgart.de> On Thu, May 01, 2025 at 03:36:31PM +0200, Christian Lamparter wrote: > when working with linux-image-cloud-amd64's bullseye cousin, > I noticed that the watchdog dev (/dev/watchdog) was absent > from the VM and I'm unable to use the watchdog actions. This was changed for Trixie. We don't consider this important enough for an update to a Debian stable release.
