GNUS MBox, Messed Up Message Ordering

Hello, Gnus~

        I'm having  an issue with Gnus:  Sometimes I
  run Gnus,  and it  doesn't boot up  right, because
  some messages  in my  mail mbox  are in  the wrong
  order or something.  It complains about the header
  (with header value being just an example here):

        X-Gnus-Newsgroup: misc:223

  where the number at the  end is "wrong", because a
  previous message would have  a higher number, or a
  following message  would have  a lower  number.  I
  then have to fix  the file manually by re-ordering
  the messages, or at  least changing the numbers in
  the header,  to make  them correctly  ordered, and
  only then I can start Gnus normally.

        This wouldn't have been  a big problem if it
  happened once,  but it  keeps happening,  at least
  once every day or two.  This is really annoying.

        My current  Gnus setup is as  follows: I use
  fetchmail to  download all mail from  my server to
  my local user's spool,  then run Gnus, which reads
  my user's spool mbox file, with gnus-select-method
  being `nnmbox', and then splits the messages using
  nnmail-split-methods to a dozen  groups or so; the
  group `misc' in the header above being just one of
  them.  It seems the error tends to affected one or
  two groups way more than the others, no idea why.

        If anyone has an idea  or a hint on why this
  issue is happening, or what can be done to fix it,
  help would be appreciated.
