You used to be able to do this in Safari as well. No more... now you have to edit the URL itself to go up a directory in a website. Sometimes this makes sense to do. Sometimes not. I can see why Apple stopped backing it as an easy option... even if I liked it. So I created a System Service to do so (I can share the code if you want) and set it to run just in Safari. For some time I had it set to be the "standard" Command+Up, but later changed it to be Command+Control+Option+Up... most of my custom ones are like that. To set the hot key I did much what is described in the article: I went to System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts ... but instead of going to App Shortcuts I went to Services. From there you get a list of all Services (both Apple provided and ones you have added) and you can set the hot key by clicking the option to the right of the name of the service. If that does not make sense I can show you a video of it later. -- Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity.
